Lotadebi temple is situated at about 7 km from Jalpaiguri main town in the bank of Karala river, surrounded by tea garden. The temple stands isolated from the hussle and bussle of city life. The history of temple dates back to more than 100 years. No body has any actual details of when actually the foundation has been laid. Goddess Kali is been worshiped here. Watching the sunset, in between tea garden is breath taking. A fair is arranged every year in the month of January.
How to reach – To reach Lotadebi one has to reach Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India, and then reach to Assammore or Karala Valley tea garden more (crossing). You may travel by locally available battery driven vehicles (called Toto here) or by man driven rickshaw. From there it is walkable distance to Lotadebi mandir, or you can ask the driver of the vehicle to reach directly to Lotadebi.
Stay and food – There are many hotels and lodges available at Jalpaiguri town, and for dining there are many restaurants and food shops available. Since Lotadebi is a isolated area, there is no stay arrangements nearby Lotadebi temple. Only few shops are located at Assammore area, where in you can get some snacks and food items.
Best time to visit – January to July, as the water level of Karala river is low and you can cross the river by foot.
